With their ‘aged’ appearance, this piece of furniture can really add some extra ambiance to your living room. In this article, I will discuss some ways of getting the most visual appeal from your rustic oak coffee table.Without a doubt, the most eye catching feature of rustic oak coffee tables are their simplistic, ‘vintage’ look. Even newly made ones are sometimes designed to have that ‘weathered’ appearance in them. It is this battered look that many love, especially those people with older, more traditional styled homes. The superior quality of rustic oak coffee tables is what sets them apart from the usual coffee tables. In fact, they are one of the most durable and long lasting types available on the market. Manufactured from solid oak, these coffee tables are made to withstand many years of use. This will really save you a great deal of money in the long term because you won’t need to replace it often. Most furniture stores stock a wide range of rustic oak coffee tables, and you can even shop for them online. Be sure to spend some time looking around before you purchase though, as there are just so many designs to choose from. Also, don’t be too afraid of buying a used coffee table, as many are made from strong wood that will still last a long time. Just be careful to look for obvious flaws and repairs made to the coffee table though. If you purchase a second-hand rustic oak coffee table, be sure to buff it up properly to ensure it lasts longer. A good sanding, first with rough sandpaper to remove grit and dirt; and then with fine sandpaper to give a smooth finish will do wonders for an old coffee table. You can then rub some quality lacquer into the wood to give your rustic oak coffee table that ‘vintage’ look.Let’s talk about some items that you can place onto your rustic oak coffee table to make it look even more stylish. Pottery is, arguably, the most popular item used to decorate coffee tables. I would say that books and even small pot plants are also very common. When deciding on what items to use, I suggest that you only select one or two. It’s very unattractive to have a cluttered, ‘busy’ coffee table. Rather have a single, large, intricate item than many tiny and boring ones. This holds especially true for rustic oak coffee tables because too many decorations only serve to hide the antique beauty of the wood finish.Rustic oak coffee tables come in many different sizes. I suggest that you get the largest one you can. A large table surface that can actually be used as opposed to just being admired is far more valuable. At least make sure that it’s large enough for you to sit and enjoy a cup of coffee and still have enough space to keep a book or two!

Stainless Steel Solar Garden Lights

Undoubtedly, stainless steel solar garden lights add a decorative flair to your home garden like no other. They allow you to add that extra bit of style to your garden without costing you too much.Relying on sunlight, stainless steel solar garden lights are cost effective, and they last for a long time. Also, they are more eco-friendly than conventional garden lights, thus you will be playing your part in protecting our planet. Most of them come fitted with white LED bulbs, which ensure that they produce a really bright glow. The bulbs don’t consume a lot of energy though, so even a few hours of sunlight will be enough to fully charge some stainless steel solar garden lights. They are corrosion resistant thus they will not rust. They are very low maintenance, and are almost setup-and-forget devices once mounted in your garden. They don’t require you to paint them, and in fact; it is the metallic finish of the garden lights that add to their visual appeal.Stainless steel solar garden lights come in a wide variety of designs, and there are an ever increasing number of designs available on the market. There is a myriad of solar powered garden lights available though, and you can easily become overwhelmed with choices. In this article I will discuss some tips with you on how to choose decorative solar garden lights to add a lovely, warm glow to your yard.Solar garden lights operate by using energy from the sun to light up the bulbs. They absorb sunlight during hot, clear days and store this energy in batteries. At night, this stored energy is converted and is used to make the bulbs glow. Depending on the type of solar garden light you have, they can store energy for a few days, thus even if you have a spell of cloudy weather; your garden light will still glow that night. Because weather patterns are unpredictable though, most solar garden lights can be connected to conventional power sources, although they usually use minimal energy. They are manufactured in a wide variety of designs, so the pattern of your solar garden lights can be based on personal preference. With such a variety though, you will certainly find a specific design to match your garden and front yard. A large number of people enjoy the look of insect shaped lights, and in fact, solar butterfly garden lights are a popular choice amongst many. Stainless steel solar powered garden lights are also very popular. Be sure to spend some time looking around for different designs before you purchase though, as you don’t want to buy a solar powered garden light in one design, only to realise that you like another even more. You can arrange your solar yard lights any way you like, although you should try to mount them in areas that receive a decent amount of sunlight during the day. A popular choice is to set them along a pathway, thus illuminating the walkway at night. Also, you can place large, white pebbles along the pathway, next to the garden lights. This adds a highly reflective glow, and thus brightens up the pathway even more. You can also place your solar garden lights around the base of a small palm tree, thus casting a ‘dancing’ shadow through the tree’s leaves when glowing at night. You can purchase solar powered garden lights at your local home improvement store, and even most hardware stores will stock it. Another option is to buy your solar garden lights online. This way you can search through a huge variety of lights from the comfort of your own home. Also, you will be able to search around for better deals more easily.Solar garden lights can really add beauty to your yard, and they don’t cost very much either. Just be sure to look around at the different designs before buying, as there are many to choose from. Also, experiment with the arrangement of your lights before you install them, as you can really create beautiful patterns with your lights.

How to Sharpen a Paint Scraper with Double-sided Blades

With time and repeated use, all paint scrapers will run dull on the edges, and that’s when you know it’s time to sharpen your paint scraper. But many people, especially DIY workmen don’t know exactly how to sharpen a paint scraper with double-sided blades. In this article, I will give you a quick run-down on the items you need and the method of how to sharpen a paint scraper with double-sided blades.

It’s really not that difficult to sharpen a paint scraper with double-sided blades, and if done correctly, you will increase the life-span of your paint scrapers quite a bit. This is ideal if you’re the kind of guy (or gal) who loves DIY projects, because you will save a great deal of money if you learn how to sharpen your paint scrapers with double-sided blades yourself. Also, there are just a few pieces of equipment that you will need, so it’s very inexpensive to do at home.

Before we start, I just have to mention the fact that there are basically two types of paint scrapers available for most home improvement use. Paint scrapers with ultra-thin, razor-edged blades; and then you get those with thicker, more durable blades. The thin bladed ones are used for ‘lighter’ applications, such as removing wall-paper. These paint scrapers are often meant to be disposable, and as such, they are much cheaper. It is usually easier to get rid of these paint scrapers once their blades become dull, as opposed to trying to sharpen them.

It’s the more durable ones that I want to discuss. These paint scrapers are far more expensive, and thus it’s a good idea to try to sharpen them. Also, if you have specialist blade designs (for example, a curved blade) then it’s important to learn how to sharpen these paint scrapers.

The fundamental items that you require to sharpen a paint scraper (double or single-sided) are sandpaper, oil, and a fine file. I suggest that you use good quality machine oil, as it will allow for a smooth finish on your blade edges once you’re done.

f your paint scraper has a ‘twist-off’ handle, then unscrew the blade from the handle. If not, don’t worry too much, you can still sharpen the blades on those paint scrapers quite easily. Whatever type of paint scraper you own, place it on a level workbench, with the blade flat on the surface. Now, run the file down the length of the edges of the blade, and then do it again two more times. This will effectively remove any nicks on the blades edges, thus making the blade easier to sharpen.

Next you can use the sand-paper to ‘smoothen’ down the edges of the blade. I suggest that you use a fine grade sand-paper to give a nice, smooth finish. Now use an old cloth to ‘wipe’ some machine oil onto the blade. Then run a sharpening stone over the blade to give a nice, sharp edge.

Proper care of your paint scrapers will ensure that they last longer. Try not to run your paint scrapers over jutting out nails or anything that can nick the blades because it will damage the blades. Now that you know how to sharpen a paint scraper with double-sided blades, you can preserve them for longer.

How to Spray Paint your Truck – Tips to do a better job

Does your truck look run down, battered and worse for wear? Well, over time, the once beautiful paint job on your truck will begin to fade andflake. In this post, I will give you some tips on how to spray paint a truck. It’sreally not difficult to spray paint your vehicle, and you can do it yourself ifyou’re the adventurous type.

The first thing I will tell you about how to spray paint atruck is to fully get rid of the old paint. You really need to clean of alllayers of the original paint job if you want exceptional results. There are anumber of commercial paint strippers that you can purchase which are veryeffective in removing old paint. Most of these paint removers are lacquer basedand work well, so it doesn’t really matter what brand of paint remover youchoose. Just be sure to read the label for directions before you use theproduct as there may be slight variations from product to product. Also, becertain to work in a well-ventilated area, preferably outdoors to prevent anyaccidents.

You will also need to purchase some sandpaper to “clean” themetal surface of your truck. I suggest that you purchase two grades ofsandpaper. A coarse grade to strip paint and a fine grade to give the metal asmooth, workable finish. Although you can purchase wet sandpaper, I suggest theregular dry type. Note however, that thee wear out quicker, but they do a reallygood job. Don’t be afraid to throw away the sandpaper once its clogged, astrying to work with blocked grains can be tedious.

It doesn’t really matter what colour paint you choose topurchase, just be sure to get paint that is specifically manufactured for paintvehicles. There are literally an endless myriad of colours to choose from, andyou can also get a specific shade mixed to suit your liking. The cost ofdifferent colours varies greatly however, so be sure to set a budget on howmuch money you’re going to spend on paint before you shop for colours. A quicktip on how to spray paint a truck is that base colours, lighter colours andwhite are generally cheaper than those dark, shiny colours.

There is a new popular trend when it comes to spray paintinga truck, and that is to go two-tone. When they mix the paint at the store, theyadd a “changing” shine to the paint. Neon wall clocks are not entirely new inventions, but the sheer variety in design and technological features have increased rapidly as of late. In this article, I will share with you my view on the most important aspects you can think about when considering how to buy a neon wall clock.

Neon colours, in my opinion, are just plain awesome! Especially neon pink! With so many neon colours available, you will certainly be able to find a wall clock that suits the specific texture of your house. No matter what wall type you have, there will be a neon wall clock to match. Don’t be afraid to experiment, and be creative in the colour of clock you choose. When thinking about how to buy a neon wall clock, the features that said clock has will be entirely up to your requirements. Most features found on normal watches can be found on newer wall clocks, so your choice is endless. If you need an alarm, purchase a wall clock that has a buzzer. If you want the time needles to glow in the dark, purchase a clock which has glow paint. Basically what I’m trying to say is that you can always find a wall clock to suit your individual needs without too much hassle. I suggest that your neon wall clock has extra features rather than a shortage of them though, since you can easily choose which features you don’t want to use, as opposed to purchasing a new wall clock because the original one didn’t have a specific feature.

As technology improves in leaps and bounds, the cost of clocks has decreased drastically. Price, therefore, should not influence your thinking on how to buy a neon wall clock, as really, you can get some at a good bargain. Unless of course you want a designer wall clock, for which you will have to fork out extra cash! There are a number of places from where you can purchase you wall clock, although the variety of clocks available may be fewer in smaller, less popular shops. Large, specialist shops will usually have many more clocks to choose from, and you are more likely to get a discount from these larger stores.

When thinking about how to buy a neon wall clock, also consider searching online. This way you are guaranteed to get a huge range of clocks to choose from. Also, you can shop for bargains from the comfort of your own home! Just be sure to check the credibility of the site from which you purchase you clocks though. I suggest that you search on the more popular websites which higher user ratings.

It doesn’t matter which type of neon wall clock you choose to buy, or what colour, or at what cost. Neon wall clocks are a great attraction in any home, and you will surely enjoy and be satisfied with your purchase. It would probably be very exciting to the kids and even the older members of your family! Traditionally, getting a pool meant lots of labor and lots of money. With new technology however, you can now purchase an above ground pool. This article is about the things you should consider when wanting to know how to buy an above ground pool.

The great thing about buying an above ground pool is the fact that you can get a wide variety of styles that are reasonably priced. They come in a variety of different materials and each one has its own advantages and disadvantages. Also, if you don’t like your above ground pool, you can sell and just buy another!

1) How large is your above ground pool going to be?
A major consideration when thinking about how to buy an above ground pool is the size of it. There are a wide variety of pool sizes available on the market and there are numerous shapes that you can choose from.

If you want a pool that is just large enough for the kids to splash around in on a hot day, then you won’t need to get a very large pool. A smaller shallower one will be quite fine to let the kids get their feet wet. Its also safer if you plan on letting your younger children into the pool.

If you want a pool that you can swim across and get some exercise in, you will need a much larger pool. These pools will also have to be deeper. Unfortunately, they are much more expensive and they don’t look very nice because of their size. If this is your case then I recommend that you consider getting a normal pool that will be large enough.

Above ground pools are also made of different materials, depending on the size of it. The larger the pool is, the heavier duty material will be used. This is because of the water pressure that will be in the pool. Smaller above ground pools on the other hand, are often made of plastic or glass fiber.

2) How much of cash do you have to invest in your above ground pool?
Your budget is also very important when asking the question of how to buy an above ground pool. The more money that you are willing to spend, the larger and higher quality the pool you will be able to purchase. Remember though, there are many new materials which are cheaper than the older types and therefore you may be able to get a fairly large pool for a reasonable price.

A smaller above ground pool should not be very expensive and you will be able to get one for quite a decent price. Also, you should consider shopping around to evaluate prices and find a store that has the pool at a cheaper price.

3) Where to buy the pool from:
I would suggest that your browse online stores when you are thinking about buying an above ground pool. This is because you will be presented with a wide variety of choices and prices and won't even need to leave the comfort of your own home.

Another advantage of shopping online for an above ground pool is that you can compare prices much more easily than if you had to go around yourself. There are many online stores where you will probably be able to get an above ground pool at a discount rate.

I hope that this short article has helped in answering your question of how to buy an above ground pool. Swimming is a great form of exercise and can provide hours of fun and the best part is that you too can join in the fun without it costing you an arm and a leg.

How to Get Rid of a Musty Smell in Carpets

With time, many people find that their perfectly clean carpets develop a damp and stale smell. In this article, I will tell you about a few simple ways of how to get rid of a musty smell in carpets. A musty smelling carpet not only makes your home seem unclean (which can be very embarrassing when you have guests!), but it can also be a health hazard especially to your kids!

The four methods that I have enlisted below should just be able to help you to get rid of a musty smell in a carpet.

It really depends how bad your carpet actually is. If the problem is just starting, then you may be able to get rid of the smell in the musty carpet. If however, you have had the problem for a long time you may need to replace your carpet. Either way, its still worth trying to get rid of the musty smell in your carpet first.

1) Cover with baking soda:
Bicarbonate of soda can work wonders if it is used correctly. How to get rid of musty smell in carpets, using baking soda? Simply sprinkle a generous amount of the baking soda onto the carpet, forming a layer of it over your entire carpet. Then you have to just let it sit for a few hours while it starts to work on neutralizing the smell. The final step is to thoroughly vacuum it up, making sure that you don’t leave any of the baking soda on the carpet. If your problem isn’t solved after the first try, then you may need to repeat this process a couple of times and it should work.

2) Wash with warm soapy water:
Another great idea is to wash your carpets using warm soapy water. This will clean your carpets and remove the nasty odor at the same time. But in most cases, you will need to dry out your carpet quickly to prevent the problem from repeating itself.

3) Dampen with vinegar:
This method can quite easily help in your quest of how to get rid of musty smell in carpet. All you need to do is to slightly dampen your smelly carpet with a solution of vinegar and water and let it sit for a while. You will then need to thoroughly rinse out the carpet with water and maybe even vacuum it dry. This method may leave a slight smell of vinegar so you may need to lightly spray your carpet with an air freshener or some deodorant.

4) Send your carpet for deep cleaning:
if you really have to, then its probably a good idea to send your carpets for professional cleaning. There are many companies that of carpet cleaning services at very reasonable prices. These carpet-cleaning companies have the necessary equipment and knowledge to quite efficiently get rid of the must and stale smell in your carpet.

Many types of carpets can be successfully cleaned and will return to their original beauty. There are however, some carpets that can be cleaned but will just never be the same again. I recommend that you try to clean your carpet first, either yourself or by sending it to a reputable carpet cleaning company, before you decide on whether you have to get rid of your carpet.

The above methods will hopefully be able to successfully end your quest of how to get rid of a musty smell in your carpets. I hope that you will now be able to enjoy sitting in a clean and fresh smelling living room and not have to worry about a damp/ musty/ stale smelling carpet.

Learn How to Grow Oxygenating Water Plants

If you have an aquarium or an outdoor pond that has fish in it, then it is vital that you learn how to grow oxygenating water plants. It’s not difficult to learn about how to grow oxygenating water plants and in this article, I will provide you with some of the basic information that you need to know.

The first thing that you need to know is that you are putting your pond/ aquarium at a great advantage by having living, oxygenating water plants. Your fish will surely be less stressed due the sufficient oxygen in the water and this will allow them to be healthy. Yes, sure you could get an air pump to supply your tank, but the air that comes out is not only oxygen.

You could get a water feature that will create bubbles, but that alone will probably not be able to provide suffient oxygen. If you would like to use a water feature then go ahead, it will add beauty to your pond but you will also need to have some oxygenating water plants in the pond.

The things that I have mentioned below are the vitals when you are learning how to grow oxygenating water plants. First of all, you need to realize that almost all aquatic plants (plants adapted to live in water), pond algae and even pond lilies will release oxygen to some extent. How much on the other hand, will depend on the type of plant, the water conditions, availability of sunlight, and nutrients in the water and ground substrate.

1) How do plants give off oxygen?
This is a very important question, yet so many people don't really understand the process of planting producing oxygen. A very simplified version of this process is given as follows (pond algae is used in this example): the name given to this process is "photosynthesis" and oxygen is given of as a waste product. A plant photosynthesizes by using carbon dioxide, water, and radiant energy to manufacture food for itself. Oxygen is released back into the plants surroundings (in this case the aquarium/ pond) as a by-product.

2) Which plants are the best?
The most important factor to consider when choosing a plant for the purpose of releasing oxygen is the color of the leaves. The greener a plant is, the more it will photosynthesize, therefore producing more oxygen. If you get to chose between a plant that has dark green leaves and one that has light green leaves, chose the darker one as it will produce more oxygen. Although there are numerous plants that have all sorts of colors and look really great, most of them will not benefit the rest of the aquarium inhabitants. I would suggest that you stick you having green aquatic water plants, pond lilies and pond algae as they are the varieties that release the most amount of oxygen back into the pond/ aquarium.

3) Exactly how to grow oxygenating water plants?
Now that you understand why plants release oxygen and you know which plants to purchase, you will need to learn exactly how to grow oxygenating water plants. You will need to place your aquatic plants in the part of the fish tank that receives sunlight for most of the day. This is vital if you want you plants to releases as much oxygen as possible.

Also remember that you will need to have fish in the tank/ pond with your pond algae as they (the aquatic plants) require the carbon dioxide given off by the fish. if you don’t have fish then there won’t be anything for the plants to take in and therefore they won’t photosynthesize and won’t release oxygen.

I hope that after reading this article, you have gained a little more insight on this topic. having an aquarium/ fish-tank or even an outdoor pond is really very exciting. Now that you have an understanding of how to grow oxygenating after plants, you shouldn’t have any problem in setting up your very own aquatic habitat.

How To Paint Stain Bamboo- 3 Steps

Bamboo is a very attractive wood with an awesome natural built in finish, which goes well with a variety of light colored woods. But, what happens when you have mainly dark wood furniture, like mahogany, and you want to add a bamboo chair into the space? This article is all about how to paint stain bamboo. In this article, I will go through the process of how to paint stain bamboo so that you can mix it in with a variety of other wood furniture.

Good quality bamboo furniture is hard to come by, so if you are lucky enough to own it you should be proud to use it. Although, if you really need to then you can paint stain the bamboo to make it blend into your room.

1) Removing the protective layer:
If you were to just paint stain a piece of bamboo, the paint will not adhere to the surface. Why? Well, bamboo has a shiny and non-porous silica coating on its surface that will prevent any paint from absorbing in. There is a way to overcome this however. You need to lightly sand the bamboo, using sandpaper with a grit off between 80-120, to remove the protective layer. Remember to sand it down until there is no more shine on the surface as the paint will not hold to those parts and the finished work will not look very appealing.

2) Staining the bamboo:
To properly cover the wood, you will need to add about three layers of stain to the bamboo. First, you need to apply a thin layer of stain on the surface (with a brush) and then rub it in with a clean, dry cloth. Repeat this process at least three time. In mot cases, the more layers of stain you apply the darker the finish will be. So depending on what wood you want the bamboo to match, you may need to use anything from three layers to about six. In between layers, you may want to lightly sand the wood to allow the next layer to adhere properly. Also, allow ample time after you have painted on each layer to let the paint dry fully.

3) Sealing the bamboo:
Now that you have completed staining the bamboo, its time to move on to the last part of how to paint stain bamboo. After the layers of stain dry completely, you will probably need to add a protective layer of varnish or sealant. This is to keep the water out and help your bamboo furniture last longer. In most cases, you will simply need to paint on a thin layer of varnish and let it dry. Then lightly sand it and paint on another thin layer of varnish. I recommend that you do not exceed about three layers of varnish otherwise the furniture will look un-natural and it will ruin the overall appearance of the furniture. This should give you bamboo furniture an attractive and long lasting finish.

A tip on keeping your bamboo furniture clean: avoid using anything sticky around the furniture as it may spill and stain the bamboo (its better to prevent stains than to clean them). This is usually not a problem, as the water will seldom reach a high temperature during the hot summer months however, you may find that your ponds water temperature is too high. If this is your case, then you may be asking the question of how do I cool my pond? Well, in this article I will give you a few ideas on how to lower the temperature of your pond.

The first thing that you need to realize is that it will be harder and cost more to cool a larger pond as compared to a smaller one. It is however
vital to do it or the plants and fish in the pond will become stressed and not be healthy.

The first thing that you need to consider if you are asking the question of how do I cool my pond, consider what type of pond you have. Is it a natural pond, man made or the ready made ones that you just fill water in? This is important because of the depth.

A natural pond will probably be much deeper and therefore there won’t be a much of a temperature extreme and also it won't reach as high temperatures. However, it will also be much harder to cool should it become too warm as there is more water as water quite cools slowly.

If you have a smaller pond on the other hand, it will be much easier to cool. This will mean that it will be cheaper to cool in the short term, but because there isn’t much water, it can become to warm again quite quickly.

1) Cover the pond:
You can quite easily reduce the temperature of you pond by shading the water with a fine mesh/ cloth. The finer the material the better, as less rays form the sun will be striking your pond. You can purchase mesh from a number of places and your local hardware store will probably have it in stock. I recommend that you chose a lighter color of mesh as it will better reflect the sunlight there helping to cool your pond a little faster.

This method may or may not work, if your pond is small enough to cover then it probably will work.

If you have a large pond then, although it may work it will be really expensive to buy cloth to cover the entire pond. You can’t really cover half the pond and expect it to work as water is in constant motion so your whole pond will have the same temperature.

2) Adding a water feature:
this method of cooling down a pond is more long term, and probably won’t help if you have the problem right now. It is advisable however to get a water feature to keep the pond cool in the future. consider this when you are thinking of ways of how do I cool my pond: warm water has a lower amount of dissolved oxygen in it. This means that there isn't as much oxygen for your fish (and we all know that oxygen is essential to life).

A simple way of increasing dissolved oxygen, is by creating movement on the waters surface. A great example is by adding a waterfall. There are a variety of waterfalls that you can purchase and many of them are quite reasonably priced. This will quite quickly add oxygen to the water and keep your fish alive while you are cooling your pond.

I hope that this article has helped in answering your question of how do I cool my small pond. There are other methods that you can use to cool down your pond but they are more pond-type specific. To cover that kind of information will be to in depth for the scope of this article and you will probably get better advice from a professional after they have had a look at your pond. Good luck with cleaning your small pond.

How To Paint Your Mailbox Creatively

Are the numbers on your mailbox starting to fade? Does the original navy blue color on your mailbox look like neon yellow? Would you like to restore the inner beauty into the only thing that will stay out in the rain just to keep you mail dry? Well, this article on how to paint your mailbox will definitely help! In this article, I will provide a few suggestions and ideas on how to paint your mailbox creatively.

I am going to list the steps that you need to take in order to do a good job of painting your mailbox creatively. Remember, these are only guidelines and you are allowed to do them differently if you choose to, but this article is to help those who do not have any prior knowledge on the subject.

1) Remove the old paint:
The first step that you need to take in you search of how to creatively paint a mailbox is to get rid of any excessive, old and flaky paint that may already be present. You can so this quite simply by using a good quality metal paint scraper (I advise you to purchase a good quality one so that it will be able to complete the job without breaking mid way through). This will be able to easily take off the bulk of the old paint. You can then sand the surface until it is smooth and clean, starting off with rougher sandpaper and then progressively work your way down to a finer one. When you are sanding down the surface, you don’t have to bother about taking out any old paint that is not flaking or cracking.

2) Choose a deep and dark color:
I think that dark, strong colors look the best on mailboxes (just my opinion though), how about you? Colors like dark green, blue, purple, and even red look great and add a bit of flair to the mailbox. Remember however, the color selection is your choice and will depend on how creative you want to get with painting your mailbox. If you want, you can even mix up the colors, add some patterns and use just about any color scheme that is to your liking.

3) Type of paint:
When you are purchasing paint be careful to choose on that will be able to withstand harsh outdoor conditions, unfortunately these are also the more expensive paints but are of a higher quality which makes it a good investment. The paint should be UV-resistant, of superior quality and preferably oil-based which will add to the shine and the amount of time it will last.

4) The numbers on your mailbox:
It is essential to have your house number clearly visible on your mailbox. It would not be nice to miss a special package that was meant for you because of a poorly numbered mailbox. You can either paint the numbers on or you could purchase brass number that can be screwed on. The choice is yours and will depend on how creatively you want to paint your mailbox. I would recommend that you don’t paint the numbers on, as it won’t last as long. The brass numbers on the other hand, will remain long after you beautiful paint job has worn out.

The activity of painting your mailbox creatively can be quite fun! Its really exciting to be able to add any color you choose and make designs that you wish on your mailbox to add a personal touch to it. I hope that this article will have helped you on your search of how to paint mailbox creatively. Have fun, and enjoy!

Learn How To Cook Shrimp

Shrimp is a tasty delicacy that, if cooked properly, will make your mouth water. In this article I will teach you how to cook shrimp that will make your family and friends beg you for more! Its really not that hard to learn how to cook shrimp and I hope to simplify this process and remove as much confusion as possible with this article.

In the method that I am going to teach you, we will be preparing the shrimp and making what is known as "chutney". It’s exquisitely tasty and can be prepared quite quickly. It is for this reason that this dish is a good idea for a quick lunch or for a light supper when you are too tired to cook a larger meal.

You can buy shrimp from most fish stores and your local supermarket will probably have it in stock (check it in the frozen food section). There are a wide variety of shrimp that are eatable but a comparison of the difference in taste between the varieties is too in depth for this article, as I’m only going to teach you how to cook the shrimp.

1) Clean or buy cleaned shrimp?
In order to fully cook shrimp, you will need to remove its outer shell and wash it out thoroughly. If you have the time, then you may want to consider purchasing unclean shrimp and then remove the shells yourself. This is quite simple actually; just break off the head and then pull it back gently until you reach the tail. Then break off the tail and voila, shrimp de-shelled! Now, wash the shrimp under cold running water to remove and veins, guts etc. that's it, easy right?

If however, you do not have the time to clean them yourself you should purchase the cleaned variety.
Although its slightly more costly to buy pre-cleaned shrimp, it’s a better option than to spoil the food because you didn’t have the time or know how on how to properly de-shell the shrimp. This article is about how to cook shrimp and not a debate on whether to clean it yourself or not, so I will move on to my next point.

2) Time to cook the shrimp:
I believe that the best way on how to cook shrimp is to fry it in garlic butter (can be bought or made at home). This adds a rich, yet divine taste to the shrimp and provides a wonderful flavor. Okay, so you have to heat the garlic butter in a pan until its fully melted. Next, add the shrimps and cover the pan. Let it simmer for a while on low heat, stirring occasionally. Then remove the lid and cook the shrimp 'till it turns golden brown in color.

Now, to prepare the chutney. For the chutney, you will need one medium sized onion and a few tomatoes, depending on how much of chutney you intend to make you will need anything from four tomatoes to about eight. Slice the onions into rings and then cook it to a light brown color. Next, cut up the tomatoes and add it to the onions. Now, let it cook on low heat until the tomatoes become soft and sort of "melted". You can add some spices and salt to the chutney, while it’s cooking, to add a bit of extra taste.

That’s it! You have just learned how to cook shrimp! Was that really as hard as you thought it would be? Now that you have learned how to cook shrimp, try it and impress your friends and family with your master skills.

How Do I Dredge A Small Pond

A pond in your yard can add beauty, increase your property value and also crate an ecosystem for a diverse variety of animals. Whether you have a natural or manmade pond, there will most likely come a time when you will need to ask the question of how do I dredge a small pond? Over time, a pond can become smaller and shallower to sediment build up on the pond floor. In this article, I will try to answer the question of how do I dredge a small pond.

1) How large is the pond:
When you are asking the question of how do I dredge a small pond, its essential to consider how big the pond actually is. This will determine how difficult it will be to dredge the pond, how much of time it will take and also how much it will cost. The larger the pond, the more time and money will be needed. If you have a very small pond on the other hand, then it may be feasible to dredge the pond yourself.

2) Benefit of outsourcing the work:
I would recommend that you hire a professional company to dredge out your small pond. They come in great looking patterns, have colors that are absolutely marvelous and most have some very attractive finishes. But, many people are unsure about how to install marble tiles to walls. If you are one of them, you will know how to install marble tiles to walls by the end of this article.

I have broken down the information on how to install marble tiles to walls into four main steps. The reason I have done this to prevent you from getting confused and feeling even more frustrated! I hope it helps.

1) Prepare the wall:
The first thing that you will need to do is to clean out the wall surface so that the new tiles will be able to adhere properly. You will need to remove any old paint, or previous tiles that may have been there. You can do this by just breaking out the old tiles and then using a scraper to get the wall smooth. You will also need to remove any tile adhesive thats on the wall. I would recommend that after you have clean the wall, you wipe it of any dust that may have accumulated and then leave it for about two hours for it to fully dry. Remember that the cleaner the wall is, the better the tiles will hold and will therefore last longer which is important when using marble tiles as they are quite costly to replace.

2) Plan out your design before putting the tiles onto the walls:
This is not a problem if you are planning on using only one color tile for your walls. But if you are going to mixing colors or patterns, then I would suggest that you take some time to consider how you are going to place the tiles. Once you have installed the marble tiles to your walls, you will not be able to easily take them off without breaking them so be careful with regards to your design.

3) Installing the marble tiles:
Once you have prepared the wall that you are going to be tiling and picked out the design that you will use, it is time for us to move on to the last step of how to install marble tiles to walls. There are a wide variety of tile adhesives that you can use to stick your tiles onto the wall. I would suggest that you purchase a good quality tile fix that will last a very long time. Be careful no to damage the tiles when you are sticking them on.

4) Adding grout to the tiles:
After you have installed the marble tiles onto your walls, you will need to grout the gap in between the tiles. There are many types of grout and they come in different colors to suit the color of your tiles. I would recommend that you choose a darker color as it will be much easier to clean as compared to white or light cream.

As you can see, it’s not very difficult to learn how to install marble tiles to walls. A quick tip on caring for your tiles here: try not to wet the tiles too much as marble will stain easily and the grout will become damp and develop mold. You also need to avoid anything acidic (like tomato juice, vinegar etc) from coming into contact with the walls, as the tiles will be damaged. I hope that this article has helped you in your quest in learning how to install marble tiles to walls. You too can do it!

How to Get Rid of Black Mold of Walls

Do you have ugly greenish black spots on your walls? Also, natural cleaners are usually much cheaper. I hope that this article has helped in your question of learning how to get rid of black mold off walls and that your wall will look like new again.

How Often Do You Need To Walk Your Dog

Do you love your dog? Of course you do!! Who doesn't love a furry, cuddly, friendly and playful best friend? If you have a dog, then you need to ensure that he or she is properly taken care off. One of the most important aspects of proper dog care, and a question that is shared by many is: "how often do you need to walk a dog?". Well do not despair, as in this article I will give you my opinion on the proper routine to keep you dog in shape and living a long life.

Remember, the tips that I am providing below are only my views on how often do you need to walk your dog. There are many species that will require different amount of exercise, and also the age of your dog will affect how often do you need to walk your dog.

1) How many times a day:
I would recommend that you take your dog out for a walk twice a day. this way he/ she does not get over tired as would be the case in a single walking session, but also because it helps keep your dog in better shape. If you just took him out for one walk a day, then they would become exhausted instead of energized. Also, it is cooler and more comfortable to walk at dusk and dawn as compared to during the mid day heat. If however, the weather permits and you have the time, then I think it would be okay to take a third walk (at around lunch time). I don't think dogs mind walking and running around a lot. in fact, I think they enjoy it!

2) How long/ far should we walk:
This factor is very breed and age specific. For instance some dogs, like a Jack Russell Terrier, can be much more energetic as compared to a larger breed of dog. If you dog is elderly, then you may need to walk a shorter distance with him otherwise he will become tired and worse off health wise. If you are going to be walking your dog twice a day like mentioned above, then a good estimates will be to walk for about a half hour each time.

As you can see from the above information, the answer to the question of how often do you need to walk your dog, cannot be set in stone. Although this article was not a complete guide on dog walking, I hope that I have helped you make a more informed decision about how often do you need to walk your dog.

Disclaimer For This Blog

This blog is my personal opinion and the content found in this blog are my views about a wide variety of things. They have usually started their toy hobby many years ago, but they never got out of it. Kids enjoy hanging out with these adults because they are usually more friendly and fun to be with.

Men are often into model cars and trucks. Some will have a collection of racing cars whilst some will have a collection of vintage trucks. But be warned though; that most of the time your precious toy truck will have its paint work destroyed by the kids or grand kids...

Lots of women have a collection of dolls from their child hood days, and often play with them when they are bored. Many of them will prefer fashion dolls whilst other will prefer antique dolls. Most of the time, ladies will start to craft clothing for their dolls and this can leading to an exciting hobby. Some ladies, (who are really creative) will craft their own dolls out of old clothes; cotton wool etc.

Wooden toys are fairly popular to adults who enjoy woodworking (as they usually make them for themselves). Also, since they are cheap to make it’s often given to the toddlers to enjoy.

Another very popular toy collection hobby is that of beanie bags. They are small; colorful; inexpensive and come in a variety of animal imitations! Another firm favorite is colleting teddy bears. I mean, who doesn't collect (or at least have them from child hood days) teddy bears?

My basic point for this post? You don't have to outgrow toys! Toy hobbies will help keep you young at heart and also make you a favorite amongst your family's kids!

5 TIPS TO INCREASE PRODUCTIVITY WHEN WORKING FROM HOME

Many work from home individuals face the problem of not being able to focus, and are often easily distracted which can hamper productivity. This can drastically impact on your business, and if not corrected immediately can cause you to start running a loss. If you are serious about making a living from home, then you need to be more professional in the use of your home office. In this article, I will provide six ways of increasing your productivity when working from home.

Firstly, planning the layout of your home office is essential, but it is one of the many reasons people lose concentration easily. You will need to decide on which part off your house you are going to use. You need to choose a place where there aren't many distractions, such as a study room or spare bedroom (although your bedroom can work if you have no other choice, I wouldn’t recommend it).

Secondly, you need to maximize the use of available space (most home offices are relatively small). Buy equipment that can serve multiple tasks, such as a desk that has drawers built in it. Also, remember to include a desk lamp for good lighting.

Thirdly, you will need to develop a working schedule and stick to it! Unlike when you have a regular job, working from home means it is easy to just put aside a task for later. This is a huge factor that decreases an individual's productivity. To ensure that you complete all of your tasks on time, you will need to create a proper schedule.

Fourthly, you will need to balance work and family. One of the biggest misconceptions about working from home is that it isn't as strenuous as a regular job. This is not fully true, as you will still need to accomplish tasks during a set period of time. The best way to get around this is by working during the day as most of your family members won't be at home, and spend time with them when they do get home in the afternoon.

Fifthly, you will have to recognize your priority tasks and do them first, you will be able to accomplish much more like this than by just doing any tasks that you have just remembered. This will also cut down your stress level therefore increasing your productivity. Remember, that clients will be counting on your service so you should do your best to complete all tasks by their set deadlines.

And lastly, an excellent way of increasing your productivity is by taking a break when you need it. If you’re feeling tired, have a short break to regain your energy. Although this may waste a few minutes, you will be able to do much more when you get back to working.
